ORGANICALLY GROWN IN THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY!
ORGANICALLY GROWN IN THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY!
Nestled in the beautiful Willamette Valley, White Forest Farm has been growing mushrooms for nearly 30 years, and is one of the oldest specialty growers in the Northwest.
Whether delivering locally or nationally, we strive to provide the highest quality mushrooms at a consistent level of availability, ensuring the freshest product possible. We pick the mushrooms the day before delivery to our clients. This practice extends the product shelf life and ensures that the freshest mushrooms are available. We are dedicated to providing quality, Oregon grown, fresh mushrooms to the marketplace.
Our specialty mushrooms are grown differently than on other mushrooms farms; we employ the Japanese style of cultivation. Although several methods of growing have been used over the years, the Japanese style of growing in bottles produces a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but is consistent in taste, texture, production cycles and most importantly quality.
Our farm and growing style is free of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, hormones or chemicals.
Unlike the traditional button mushroom farms that use a manure based substance for growing, our mushrooms are grown in small batches and we use hardwood and a protein source to create our substrate (growth medium or soil). Our farm also differs in that we practice sterilization of the substrate versus pasteurization. We then use steam and air filtration to control the growing process and our by-product (spent substrate) is repurposed and distributed to local gardeners and farms, thus making the farm a zero-waste operation. Using these environmentally friendly techniques, our mulch and compost products create a sustainable process that gives back to the earth.
